The Missouri Department of Higher
Education and the Missouri Community College Association were chosen to start a
competency-based education jump-start program that is meant to increase college
completion rates. According to KOMU, the program allows students to progress as
they demonstrate mastery of the academic material – no matter the pace of
learning. Dr. Terry Smith, interim president, was interviewed about the program
and how it will help Missouri students.
