Four Jefferson City campus students receive scholarships

Four students from Columbia College-Jefferson City were honored with $1,000 scholarships to put toward their educational endeavors. Recipients received their awards during a ceremony Dec. 5 at the Jefferson City campus. The following students received scholarships:
 
·         Tunde Fazekas (Eldon, Mo.)
·         Lora Medley (Jefferson City, Mo.)
·         Kacie Mahan (California, Mo.)
·         Amber White (California, Mo.)

“The work and commitment our students display on a daily basis is remarkable,” Campus Director Becky Gordon-Bocklage said. “We are extremely pleased to honor Tunde, Lora, Amber and Kacie with our campus scholarships and assist them with continuing their education.”

The campus presents the scholarships to two underclassmen (a freshman and sophomore) and two upper classmen (a junior and senior) each year.

To be eligible for the underclassman scholarship, applicants must: 

  • Have nine hours with Columbia College
  • Be enrolled at Columbia College-Jefferson City at the time the award is granted
  • Have shown promise in doing academic work
  • Submit a 400-500-word essay justifying selection 
To be eligible for the upperclassman scholarship, applicants must: 

  • Have completed at least 60 hours with at least 12 completed at Columbia College
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Be enrolled at the Jefferson City campus at the time the award is granted
  • Submit a 400-500-word essay justifying selection
