Elgin campus to hold commencement June 29

Columbia Collegeof Missouri-Elgin will recognize graduates at a commencement ceremony June 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Events Center at Elgin Community College.

Rene Massey, associate dean for Adult Higher Education at Columbia College, will give the commencement address. Ernest Wren, assistant dean for Adult Higher Education and Online Campus, will provide remarks. Johnette Van Dien ’09 will provide the alumni charge.

“We are proud to celebrate our students’ achievements," said Massey. "Many people have helped our students along their academic journey, and commencement is a perfect opportunity for those individuals to participate in the honor as well."

Columbia College of Missouri features four campuses in the state of Illinois, located in Lake County (Gurnee), Crystal Lake, Elgin and Freeport, and offers a variety of in-seat and online degrees. In 1974 the college entered into an agreement to provide post-secondary education opportunities for sailors at Naval Station Great Lakes. Today, more than 38 years later, the Columbia College of Missouri campuses in Illinois serve more than 2,250 students annually. There are more than 4,700 Columbia College alumni in the state of Illinois, the third largest college alumni population in the nation.
