A reminder from Columbia College-Kansas City: apply for financial aid for 2012-2013
As you near the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, you may be considering applying for financial aid for the 2012-2013 academic year. If this is your first time applying for financial aid, or if it has been a long time since you’ve applied for aid, you may have questions about the process. To apply for aid, you will need to access the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a single online form that allows students to apply for federal, state and institutional aid programs, including both grants and loans. Filling out the FAFSA for the 2012-2013 school year requires you to provide your 2011 tax information. If you cannot locate your tax information, don’t worry — the FAFSA application allows you to link electronically with the IRS website and download your tax information.
May 31 is the deadline to submit financial aid paperwork for the academic year which begins in August. Students submitting documentation after May 1 will be reviewed in the order they were received. The sooner you submit your application for financial aid, the higher likelihood of you receiving sources of aid that are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
