Columbia College-Coast Guard Island Administrative Assistant Lula Mobley achieves dream to earn bachelor's degree

Lula Mobley should have been a psychologist. All the students at Columbia College-Coast Guard Island tell her their problems, hopes and dreams. She has worked for Columbia College as an administrative assistant since April 2003.

Mobley recently completed a dream of her own — earning her Bachelor of General Studies in December 2011.

“Online classes were a good fit for me since I had the freedom to take classes anywhere,” said Mobley. “I plan to retire soon and have considered starting my master’s, but right now I’m taking a break!”

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and has lived all over the world from Germany to Texas and points in between. She currently lives in Alameda, Calif., with her daughter and granddaughter.
