Columbia College–Kansas City director named Rotarian of the Year

Cindy Miller, director of Columbia College–Kansas City, received the Bob Jones Rotarian of the Year award from the Eastern Independence Rotary Club during their June 30 meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Independence, Mo.

“It is humbling and an honor to be given this award,” said Miller. “I’ve been blessed in my life both personally and professionally, and I feel obligated to give back as much as I can.”

Rotary International is an organization of service clubs located all over the world. The organization’s members provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build peace and goodwill in the world.

The namesake of the award, Bob Jones, was the former director of Columbia College–Kansas City and a charter member of the Eastern Independence Rotary Club before his untimely death to cancer in 2008. At the time of his death, he was poised to become the district governor of the Kansas City region.

Miller has been director of Columbia College–Kansas City since 2008. She became a member of the rotary club in 2009 and currently serves as the community service chair.

Miller lives in Blue Springs, Mo., with her husband and teenage son. She also has a daughter who is completing a veterinary degree at the University of Missouri.
