Columbia College graduate students! Here is a chance to be rewarded for your work!
As part of the annual Festival of Writing sponsored by the Columbia College Writing Center, the Office of Graduate Studies is awarding a $100 prize to a graduate student whose work is selected for display during the festival. Graduate students from any master’s program and from any campus, including in-seat and online classes, are eligible.To enter, submit a paper you have written for one of your Columbia College master’s degree classes during the 2009-2010 or 2010-2011 academic year, along with the attached application form. Papers must have received an A in the class.A limited number of papers will be chosen for display at the Columbia campus during the Festival of Writing, based on criteria for excellence developed by the Writing Center staff. The judging criteria are included in a separate attachment.
From this number, one paper’s author will be randomly chosen to receive the prize of a $100 gift certificate from Barnes & Noble. All finalists will receive a certificate that their work has been honored for its excellence.
The papers will be “blind judged” by a panel of experts in academic writing.
The deadline for entry is January 31, 2011. Papers will be displayed during the week of March 7-11.
