Graduating? Declaration forms for Columbia College–Kansas City students due Sept. 30

There’s no minute like the last minute, right? Not when it comes to graduation. The sooner you make plans and complete the requirements, the better.

Undergraduate students who are about four to six classes from the end of their program need to complete a Declaration of Candidacy for Degree form. This form will confirm that you have, or will, meet all the requirements for graduation. There is a $75 fee that is payable the day you turn in your form to the Kansas City campus. This fee is for all undergraduate students, whether you are participating in the main campus ceremonies or not.

Graduate students who are in their third class from the end of their program should file a Masters Declaration of Candidacy for Degree form. This form will confirm that you will have met all the requirements for graduation. There is a $120 fee that is payable the day you turn in your form to the Kansas City campus. This fee is for all graduate students, whether you are participating in the main campus ceremonies or not.

If you are unsure about participating in the ceremonies, please mark “Yes, you will participate.” It is better to say yes now and not participate than to try to get permission after the deadline has passed for submission of declaration forms. The fees will cover your cap, gown, printing of your diploma and a copy of your transcripts. You will need to write on the bottom of your form your approximate height and weight. This is so you receive the correct size gown. Your form will not be processed until the fee is paid.

If you have taken classes at another institution, please make sure we receive these transcripts as soon as possible. Your degree will not post until all classes are completed. Also, diplomas will not be granted to any student who has a balance on their student account. Check eServices to make sure your account is paid in full.

Graduation is a major accomplishment. You have worked hard to achieve this position. Make sure all your paperwork is turned in on time. Contact Dori at (816) 795-1515 if you have questions about this important, exciting event.
