Columbia College–Marysville/Everett Director Tom Larsen presents Dr. Larry Sather with the “Innovative Instructor” award

The award for most creative teaching goes to Dr. Lawrence Sather and his Introduction to Speech students. During the infamous windstorm of 2010, Sather’s Communication 110 class began promptly at 5 p.m. in classroom 809, a classroom without windows. At 5:05 p.m. the Marysville campus lost electrical power. One enterprising student immediately produced a battery powered lantern, and speeches continued until electrical power was restored at 5:35 p.m. Well done speech class!
