Columbia College–Kansas City sponsors economic development

Kansas City
Earlier this month, Columbia College–Kansas City became an investor in the Independence Council for Economic Development (ICED). The college is listed as one of the organization’s seven small businesses and not-for-profit investors. Columbia College–Kansas City chose to become a sponsor to support the economic growth of Independence, Mo., and the surrounding area.

ICED is described on its website as a non-profit, public/private partnership, which was established in 1983 for the purpose of supporting and enhancing the economic growth of Independence. The organization’s focus is to recruit and expand job opportunities, promote and encourage private capital investment, provide support for existing core employers through business retention programs, support entrepreneurial efforts and promote investment in economically distressed areas of Independence.
