Lievsay wins city council seat

Chris Lievsay, a Columbia College–Kansas City graduate, was elected to the seat of Blue Springs councilman in District 2 on April 6. He won with 52.12 percent of the votes, beating out incumbent Mary Phyllis “Sissy” Reed.

In a March 17 interview with Blue Spring’s area newspaper, The Examiner, Lievsay said, “I am running for the city council so I can represent my friends and neighbors to ensure that the city continues to move in a positive direction.” His platform included public safety development, maintaining a good relationship between the council and the community and supporting organization that would prevent declining revenue and stalling development.

Lievsay graduated from Columbia College–Kansas City in October 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in management. He was the recipient of the 2009 Frank S. Westling Scholarship. Currently, Lievsay is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration with Columbia College–Kansas City.
