Spotlight on Chris Lievsay

Frank S. Westling Scholarship recipient

It is always nice to be recognized for your hard work and dedication to the things you enjoy doing. Last month I was privileged to have that opportunity and was excited to be awarded the Frank S. Westling Scholarship. For the past year and a half I have been a student at Columbia College completing my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. With only one session left I am excited to finally be finishing this chapter of my education.

I currently live in Blue Springs, Missouri with my wife Grace and have been trying to stay involved in supporting the community I live in wherever I can. While completing my degree I have been working full-time for a courier company located in Kansas City, Kansas, where I do the payroll for the independent contract drivers as well as route management when problems occur. My work there, as well as the places I volunteer, has allowed me the opportunity to work with diverse groups of people, and have created situations that give me the chance to apply my skills.

I know those experiences combined with my education have prepared me to achieve my goals. Being a student at Columbia College has provided me with the tools I need, and after receiving my degree here my hope is to look forward to the possibility of graduate school. No one can know what the future holds, but at least I can use my abilities to accomplish those things I find important and beneficial. This scholarship is a much appreciated instrument to aid in that quest, and I am grateful to receive it.
