Elgin campus welcomes new faculty and students

Columbia College–Elgin extends a warm welcome to the following new faculty and students for the August Session:

Kathleen McNamara joined us in August to teach Human Services classes. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Barnard College, Columbia University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois. She is a licensed clinical social worker with a background in social services and mental health and is currently working as a police social worker for the Carol Stream Police Department. Her students enjoy that she has hands-on experience with her job, which gives her “great background knowledge of the subject area.” They says she is “very personable” and “always enthusiastic about the material.”

Ann-Marie Hall-Sparks also joined Columbia College–Elgin in August to teach business. She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration from Illinois State University and an MBA from Roosevelt University. Students say she keeps them motivated and appreciate that she keeps them “enthused and doing activities.” Another student commented about her class, “We received real-life examples and were able to identify with them.”
