Close to degree completion? Make sure you graduate on time

If you’re nearing graduation, now is not the time to procrastinate. Two sessions prior to graduation, you need to complete a Declaration of Candidacy for Degree form to confirm that all graduation requirements have been met. A $55 fee for undergraduates and a $100 fee for graduate students — to cover graduation costs, including a diploma and transcript — is due when the form is submitted. The form will not be processed until payment is received.

It is important to make sure any transcripts for non-Columbia College credit are submitted to the Evaluations Department. You will not receive your diploma if you have an outstanding account balance, so check eServices to make sure your account is paid in full.

Finally, contact the campus office if you plan to participate in a commencement ceremony at your local campus, the home campus in Columbia, Mo., or any other Nationwide Campus. The commencement schedules are posted and will be updated in early December for 2009. The staff will then gather information and place the cap and gown order prior to the graduation date.

Graduation is a major accomplishment. You’ve worked hard to achieve this so don’t risk missing out by not submitting all necessary paperwork on time. Contact your campus office for more information.
